    This phased renovation project included upgrades to the Austin Building’s outdated mechanical, electrical, plumbing and life safety systems and reconfiguration of spaces to capture underutilized space, improve functional quality, and accommodate more students to meet the current and future needs of the respective departments.

    Highlights of the systems upgrade scope included new electrical service in most of the building; upgrades and major replacement of the HVAC components; a new parallel steam pressure reducing station and heat exchangers; removal of existing chiller, chilled water pumps, cooling tower and related equipment and then tying those lines into the campus central chiller plant; domestic hot water system upgrades including a new heat exchanger; and partial replacement and reconfiguration of the fire suppression system.
