SouthWest Transit Bus Garage Expansion & Renovation

SouthWest Transit’s main bus maintenance facility in the Twin Cities area. Big-D was the Construction Manager for the project and provided preconstruction services as well. The expansion added new office space to the front of the building, extended the length of the bus wash bays to accommodate two buses at a time, and added additional bus lifts for maintenance. The existing office spaces were renovated to create employee amenities like a lounge fitness center and all interior finished were refreshed including all new flooring and paint. Project scope also included new asphalt and landscaping to complete the facility’s refreshed look and a new touchless secure-access entrance gate for busses and employees. Challenges on the SouthWest Transit project included constructing during COVID-19 and while the non-stop busy facility remained fully operational.
