The Ogden Temple & Tabernacle project was a major renovation of both the buildings on the same site and construction of new two-level parking structure. The Temple received a complete overhaul. Two thirds of the structural frame was removed and only the center section remained before construction began to complete the massive concrete walls on the east and west side of the building. The interior was gutted down to the basement, including the slab-on-grade, to prepare for a new subterranean drain system. Interior space layouts remained largely the same, some rooms were reconfigured, and Big-D updated all interior design and auxiliary systems with modern, energy-saving equipment. All of the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and audio-visual systems were removed and upgraded. The adjacent Tabernacle was also a major renovation. The tabernacle interior was gutted to make way for new ceiling, walls, and projections. All mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and A/V components were replaced with more efficient and advanced systems.
